Dana Dewey

Dana Dewey, owner and head trainer at FEC (Foothills Equestrian Center) has been an ARIA Advanced certified instructor for over 18 years. She has been a full-time professional horse trainer and riding instructor since 1977, after completing a year at Michigan State University in Pre-Veterinary study. Her teaching includes hunt seat, jumping, cross country, stock seat, colt starting, dressage principles and a thoughtful, humane approach to safe and harmonious training concepts including rider position and balance, and effective communication.

 

She offers experienced riders great insight into their horse's mind. Many of her students are bringing along young or green horses. The PMU foal project has been a very popular part of her program, offering a unique learning opportunity to all involved, with even moms and young 4-Hers with no prior horse experience participating. Working closely with other equine professionals in the care and management of the equine athlete she continues to pursue advanced horsemanship and riding education at every opportunity. She coaches students at competitions including all levels and disciplines and leads the Boots & Breeches 4-H Horse Club.
