Crosby Reed started Mimosa Hills Farm training center in 2004. The farm has been in the family for 4 generations now. At one time the 30 acres housed Crosby’s Great Grandfathers Standardbred race horses, then some of her mother, Dottie Reed’s, most beloved Saddlebred show horses, and now the farm is home to a variety of Crosby’s best horses. Crosby was on the back of a horse before she was born (literally), competed in her first horse show aboard Fortune, an American Saddlebred, in a costume class at age 2, and by age 6 she was competing in Academy classes with Saddlebreds and in both English and Western pleasure classes as well as learning to jump. At 8 years of age, Crosby and her mother, Dottie, bought their first American Miniature Horse named Skipper. Crosby and Skippers first couple years competing resulted in a Year End Harness Racing Highpoint and 16 World Grand Championships in Performance halter and Driving at the WCMHR World Championship competition in Williamston, NC. Skipper now has 40+ World Championships in youth, open, and stakes classes along with countless other wins from World, National, and local shows. Then at age 12, with her mothers help, Crosby bought a 2 year old quarter horse which she trained and still competes with to this day. Crosby began giving riding and driving lessons to friends by age 14, also during the time that she became president of the Foothills Miniature Horse Harness Racing Club. She was and still is president and leader of her 4-H club, The Burke County Mounties. Through 4-H she competed in Horse Quiz Bowl, judging competitions, and Hippology (a written exam covering anatomy, veterinary care, maintenance, and all other things horse related). In 2006-2008 she placed top 10 at the state level and competed on the state 4-H teams at regional, congress, and nationals. When she turned 18, aging out of the youth classes, Crosby was asked to be the clinician for the WCMHR World Championship Horse Show. She was the clinician for three years and has also held independent clinics on showing and owning performance miniatures and ponies.

More recently, Crosby has been competing with every type of performance horse she has the opportunity to work with or own, training dozens of riding and driving horses, teaching students, coordinating Summer Horse Camps, giving clinics, judging horse shows, and managing MHF.

Crosby received her education from the University of Kentucky, located in the Horse Capital of the World. She graduated in the class of 2014 with a BS in Equine Management and a minor in Agriculture Economics. She also competed on UK’s Saddleseat & Polo teams and interned at the Gayla Driving Center.
